Ceramics Painting For Beginners

Ceramic is probably one of the oldest forms of art, but it’s beautiful nonetheless! The use of hands and clay is the basis of the ceramic art form. Your hands form and shape the clay to create something new. That in itself already sounds so fulfilling. Imagine getting a lump of clay, and then just after a few minutes, it turns into something completely new and exquisite.

What’s even better is that after the creation, it can be painted with one solid color or using a variety of colors. You can make it simple, or put tiny details in them. If you’re a beginner, don’t worry! Here are a few tips for painting ceramics:

Prepare everything you need.

Before you sit down and begin painting, it’s best to prepare the things you need so everything will be within your reach. Prepare your pottery, too. Make sure everything is in place before you start!

Paint with multiple coats.

Don’t just settle after painting it once. Paint it again, and again, and again. Multiple coats will make the color look more solid. Remember to let each coat dry first before you start painting it again.

Apply your own technique.

Make it your own! You can use different painting techniques to add visual texture or a pattern. Make it so that it fits your style and personality. Express yourself through your art!
